When you
think of different persons and their characteristics, some are amicable ( amigable), some are considerate ( atento,
amable, considerado) when dealing with people in trouble, and others are quite courteous (polite, cortés ) when you need help, depending on
the situation you are in. Let´s think about tourists
It is very agreeable having foreign visitors ( pleasing = agradable), they enrich your life, don´t they?
My uncle Jim was absolutely charming (captivating =encantador) with all visitors
who arrived at his farm to see his collection of trains after appearing in a
programme on the BBC. Not everybody is so approachable (
accessible = abordable), and so he was
considered to be also very likeable ( easy to like ) as people took to him
quickly as he carefully explained different matters. However not every visitor
was considerate (atento, considerado) , leaving the gates open and the animals used
to run all over the place. Nevertheless, his congenial nature (
sociable = agradable) meant he never lost his temper. If you described him as
simply a pleasant person to be with (simpatico) then you would also be
giving a good description of many people who live outside the big cities where
the hustle and bustle of every day life means many people seem to be rude as they have no time for
anybody.
