Instead of using  HAPPY  all the time, why not use more appropriate terms. Remember, to find out how to say them, the most important, go to this on-line speaking dictionary  and listen and practice, even record yourself on your mobile phone and then later listen and remind yourself.  http://www.dictionarist.com

David was not very cheerful  (alegre) on Monday morning. He had been delighted ( encantado) to see his old friend Mark on Sunday, pleased (contento)  to hear all his news, and pleased (satisfecho) with the meal he had cooked. They watched some sport on tv and were ecstatic (eurfórico ) when their hero won the tough game. They were thrilled ( contentisimo ) with the final result and he imagined how elated (alborozado, eurfórico )  the players must feel with their trophy, they would be  on cloud 9  or in seventh heaven  for a few days at least.   Today he was content ( se conformaba)  to only do his 9 to 5 job.
