10 Today Phrasal verbs to do with sport

When you want to do sport you usually sign up ( apuntarse) at a club. This may mean working out ( doing a lot of exercise) a lot to get fit, it could mean working off all those extra kilos ( exercising to lose weight)  from overeating at Christmas. As many people sign up as drop out every month (dar se de baja) , not to mention those who give up as they lose interest over time (dejar de hacer algo). Sport also means kicking bad habits too (dejar de hacer algo ) , like smoking.
Many clubs point out that if you do not put in a lot of effort  and keep up with the training ( maintain) then you will not be able to try out for the team (demonstrate your abilities to get into, enter, a team) and so your interest soon drops off ( diminishes). Some say winning isn´t everything, taking part is the key bit and I go along with them ( I agree with them).
